In this study, we report 2 cases of urinary tract infection by Aerococcus sanguinicola. A descriptive clinical-microbiological study was conducted on the presence of A. sanguinicola causing urinary tract infections.

The patient was discharged on oral cefpodoxime with a diagnosis of vasovagal syncope and a urinary tract infection related to a relatively under-recognized organism. Aerococci urinae is a Gram-positive, catalase-negative, bacterium that grows in clusters, often appearing in colonies that resemble Streptococci viridans [ 1 ]. Apart from A. urinae and A. viridans, another subspecies – Aerococcus sanguinicola – was found responsible for many human infections. Aerococcus christensenii and Aerococcus urinaehominis are the other subspecies very rarely associated with human pathologies.[ 5 , 6 ]
